Inside Disney’s Magic Kingdom it can be a bit overwhelming. It is large has many rides, places to eat, and just things in general. In this blog we will break down Magic Kingdom into specific areas, most of which have specific names. Let’s find out what’s Inside Magic Kingdom.
Hopefully this will help you better understand what is in each area and what’s close by. It is our goal to help you in your planning. With a better idea of the park layout, hopefully you will be able to get the most out of one area compared to running back and forth all day.
Something else to note, after you download the MDE (My Disney Experience App) you will have access to the map of the park on your phone. Which should help make navigating everything easier for you.
Magic Kingdom is broken up into 6 different areas!
- Mainstreet USA
- Frontier Land
- Adventure Land
- Tomorrow Land
- Liberty Square
- Fantasy Land
Let’s get started!
Mainstreet USA
After entering the park and walking under the train station you walk right onto Mainstreet USA! This is the main hub of Magic Kingdom. Here you will find shops, restaurants, and even a Starbucks. Let me give you a rundown of everything.
Upon entering, to the far right is Town Square Theater. Here is a meet and greet with Mickey and Minnie!
Directly next to Town Square Theater is Tonys Town Square Restaurant. Here you can dine on an Italian menu while enjoying a view of Mainstreet!
Back at entry, to the left is Mainstreet Chamber of Commerce, City Hall, and Harmony Barbershop! This is a functional barbershop! You can make a reservation or even check to see if they have any walk-up spots available. They even offer an adorable first haircut package, and pricing here is very reasonable.
Continuing down Mainstreet you will find The Emporium, a very large shopping store. You can find gobs of merchandise here. There is Mainstreet Confectionary, a wonderful spot to find all sorts of delightful, sweet treats! Crystal Arts, Disney Clothiers, Mainstreet Bakery (Starbucks), and Casey’s Corner a Magic Kingdom staple for hot dogs of several varieties. They also have a piano man outside playing Disney classics.
Across from Casey’s Corner is the Plaza Restaurant and an ice cream shop. To top off the Mainstreet area is The Crystal Palace. Here you can have a delicious sit-down meal. While enjoying your yummy food you get to meet with Winnie the Pooh and friends!
In Adventure Land
Standing on Main Street at the front of the castle, to the left of Crystal Palace, you will find yourself venturing into Adventure land! You will notice a change in decor and background music. Things become a little darker, the foliage becomes fuller and there are new things to see.
Here in Adventure Land, you will find Sunshine Tree Terrace, a cute little spot offering some yummy floats and snacks. Continuing on you will find Skippers Canteen, a great sit-down restaurant themed to the Jungle Cruise. I have eaten there, and it was very delicious.
A little further in is Swiss Family Treehouse, The Jungle Cruise, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin where you get to fly around high and low on a magic carpet, and Aloha Isle where they offer some wonderful Dole Whips and floats.
Continuing on you will stumble upon the Enchanted Tiki Room, Pirates of the Caribbean, a shop called Plaza del Sol Caribe bazaar, and Tortuga Tavern, a yummy quick service spot to grab some food. Can you believe these wonderful places are inside Magic Kingdom?
Frontier Land
Rounding the rear of adventure land, the pavement changes, there is new music, and you find yourself in Frontier Land! In this area of the park, you walk into the old west. Here you will find Big Thunder Mountain a wild mild rollercoaster and Splash Mountain which will soon be transformed into a new ride featuring Princess Tiana!
Hungry? Check out Pecos Bill Tall Tale Cafe, a large indoor quick service restaurant. Do some shopping at Frontier Trading post where they house several types of Disney pins.
Walking along the riverside you can find a boat to take you across the way to Tom Sawyers Island, a great place to roam and explore. But on the main walkway there is also the famous Country Bear Jamboree. Weather you love it or hate it or yet to watch it, the country bears are ready to entertain you. Finishing out Frontier land is a lovely sit-down restaurant named The Diamond Horseshoe.
Frontier Land is a wonderful spot to find a place to sit and watch any of the parades or cavalcades. Most of the parades begin there and it is usually not to terribly crowded. Best part, the area is pretty tight, so when the parade goes by you are nice and close to the characters getting a great view.
Liberty Square
As you walk from frontier land towards the center of the park you enter Liberty Square. Walt Disney was proud of his country, and he wanted a place specifically designed to show honor to the great USA, and Liberty Square is that specific place.
Here you will find a wonderful restaurant named Liberty Tree Tavern where classic thanksgiving like food is served. You can find a replica of the Liberty Bell.
Riverside, you can hop on the large Liberty Square Riverboat, taking you on a delightful journey sharing fun facts from history. In Liberty Square you can sit and enjoy a show called the Hall of Presidents, where you are in the presence of all the Presidents of the United States.
In the back corner of Liberty Square, is the entrance to the Disney classic the Haunted Mansion. You can grab a bottle of water or a snack from Sleepy Hallow refreshment, do a little shopping at Liberty Square Market or Memento Mori. Feel like having some sea food? Grab a reservation for a nice meal at Columbia Harbour House.
This area of the park is, I feel, often overlooked. It is a beautifully designed area with a lot to look at and explore. So, make sure to stop and look around if you are in that area.
What to find in Fantasy Land
Walking through the castle you enter the large and in charge Fantasy Land. This area of the park holds a lot, and when I say a lot, I mean its huge.
As you enter you are immediately greeted by Prince Chamming’s Regal Carrousel. If you head left towards Liberty Square, you will find so many wonderful things.
Inside Magic Kingdom you will find a delightful quick service spot called Pinocchio’s Village Haus. This large eatery has seating everywhere. You can also enjoy a meal next to some windows looking into the ride It’s a Small World.
Next to Pinocchio’s Village Haus is Disney’s It’s a Small World. Across the way is a ride everyone will love, Peter Pans Flight. And just beyond Peter Pan you will find the beautiful area themed to Rapunzel. Here you will find lanterns galore, drinking fountains and large restrooms. Make sure to look for different Pascals, they are placed throughout the area.
Back at the castle and going right there is Princess Fairytale Hall, where you can meet different princesses. There is Mickeys Philharmagic, a fantastic 3D show. The whole family will LOVE it.
Need a cold treat to cool you off? Look no further than The Friars Nook. After a nice ice-cream cone make your way in line to ride Adventures with Winnie the Pooh. After bouncing along with Tigger, you can hop across the way and ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
Inside Magic Kingdom behind Seven Dwarfs you will find the show Enchanted Tales with Belle, and the entrance for the restaurant Be Our Guest. Check out a review here!
Keep going!
Continuing down the path you will come across Gastons Tavern where they have the most amazing giant cinnamon rolls. Take a stroll into Bonjour Village Gifts and do some shopping. Next you will find the ride Under the Sea Journey of the little Mermaid, Ariels Grotto, and Prince Erics Village Marget.
Just beyond little Mermaid you enter the area of Fantasy land called Storybook Circus. Here you will find Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Big Top Souvenirs and the adorably small roller coaster, Barnstormer. In this area there is a very cute splash pad called Casey Jr. Splash N Soak Station. The kids will love this on a hot day.
Exiting the way you entered through Storybook Circus, continue left a bit and you will come across The Mad Tea Party Teacups ride. In addition, Storybook Treats is a great spot to grab a quick snack.
Fantasy Land has so much to offer, you most definitely will not get bored.
Inside Tomorrow Land
Rounding out the major parts of Magic Kingdom is Tomorrowland. I personally love this part of the park!
Now standing on Mainstreet looking at the castle you will head right. These walkways will lead you into the land.
As you walk past The Plaza Restaurant you will walk past some restrooms and then walk to Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant. This area has plenty of seating outside with a wonderful view of the castle. Additionally, it is a great spot to sit and relax for a while.
From there you will find the adorably hilarious show Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin, and the crazy fun Space Moutian. In Tomorrowland there is Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress. There is also one of our favorites, The People Mover. Take an elevator up and ride on Astro Orbiter.
Looking to take a drive? Hop on Tomorrowland Speedway! This ride is super fun and trust me, you will know where it’s at from far away. Coming soon to Tomorrowland is the much-anticipated new rollercoaster TRON. It is currently being built; however, Disney just announced it is set to open spring of 2023!
There are a few shops and eateries in Tomorrowland which are delicious and quick. Grab a Mickey Pretzel from The Launching Pad located under the People Mover. There is Auntie Gravities, Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe and a Joffre’s Coffee spot. Looking for some merch? Try Star Traders or Tomorrowland Light and power company.
We love Tomorrowland and cannot wait to get back.
The Castle
I guess the Castle is a part of Fantasy Land, but I feel it deserves its own spot! Inside Magic Kingdom there are a few activities in, and around the castle which need to be recognized. And those activities are pretty awesome!
Looking for a wonderful stage show performance? Stop and check out the stage in front of the castle. Inside of the castle is a restaurant, Cinderllas Royal Tabel. Here you dine on delicious food while visiting with Cinderella and friends.
Just outside of the castle before entering Fantasy land is Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Here your little princess will be pampered to the nines. They do everything from pick out their dream princess dress to getting their hair and makeup done by their fairy godmother.
Across from Bibbidi is Sir Mickeys, a wonderful gift shop.
As you can see, Magic Kingdom has much to offer. I fear it may not be possible to get it all done in one day. If you get the chance to, slow down and enjoy it, take it all in and feel the magic. It is so special.
