Hiya pals! We recently had the opportunity to stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and can’t wait to share our stay with you! Here is our Wilderness Lodge Review!
Location
Situated on Bay Lake, adjacent to Disney’s Magic Kingdom, sits the magnificent Wilderness Lodge. This amazing location makes travel to and from Magic Kingdom a breeze! You can opt for a boat or bus and arrive in just a few minutes. Arriving at EPCOT is also pretty simple because you can catch the monorail at Magic Kingdom or catch a bus. Transportation to and from Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom as well as Disney Springs is just a short bus ride away.
Our Room
We had a pool view, but just across the hall they would have had theme park views. Located on the top floor, our view was amazing. I would request top floor again for sure! Standard rooms here offer a balcony, two queen beds, a large flatscreen tv, and a full bath/shower combo. The room was decorated in a cabin theme, with a few hidden characters added in for a truly magical touch.
Restaurants & Food
Additionally, there are lots of food options here! Whispering Canyon Cafe offers sit down, all you care to enjoy, family style meal, with a side of wit and sarcasm. It is a must do. Territory Lounge offers a variety of drinks and a fun place to relax. Artist Point boasts character dinner with Snow White and the Evil Queen, and an upscale menu. Roaring Fork is a grab and go option with a small dining room and offerings such as breakfast food, cakes, snacks and full-on entrees. We dinned here numerous times though out our trip. Geyser Point Bar and Grill has an amazing drink menu, as well as delicious food. For a full review on our dinner here-stay tuned!
Lobby, Pool & Decor
Obviously, the lobby here is gorgeous. There is even a tour offered during the week, where a cast member walks with you around the resort and explain all about the architecture and the real-life theming and details. Situated in the corner is a massive fireplace. You’ll also find cozy chairs and sofas around for your relaxation. You’ll be transported out of south Florida into a Rocky Mountain Lodge, with touches of native heritage. At Christmas time there is a massive tree decorated to suit the theme in the center of the lobby. Be sure to add this to your list of things to see!
If swimming is on your list the main pool, Copper Creek Springs will blow you away! It’s a beautiful large pool that features a slide, and a waterfall. It is sure to please everyone in your party. As an added bonus you can see the geyser which erupts every 30 minutes.
Overall, the theming here is rustic, and takes you to a place that makes Disney seem far away. You will most likely see wildlife such as deer and turkey on your drive in. I feel like this resort is perfect if you like Disney touches without feeling like you’re surrounded by over-the-top decor.
Extras
Moreover, there are lots of extras offered at this resort! You can catch Disney’s Water Pageant nightly. It may or may not have brought me to tears (twice). Often, there are characters in the lobby, and we were lucky enough to meet Mr. Smee!
Staying at any Disney deluxe resort gives you the opportunity to stay at either EPCOT or Magic Kingdom for an extra two hours one night per week. At this time the schedule is EPCOT on Monday nights, and Magic Kingdom on Wednesday nights. We did not take advantage of this opportunity, but I really hope to one day soon!
Additionally, there is a hidden Mickey scavenger hunt offered throughout the property. All you have to do is ask for the scavenger hunt at the front desk. This hunt can be super challenging, but there is a prize at the end. Over the course of our stay, we found all the hidden Mickeys even though some were really challenging. In all honesty I recommend this activity to everyone. Not only does it give you the opportunity to explore the resort, but you get to study details the imagineers designed just for the guests!
Overall
Overall, our trip was amazing, and we owe it in part to our stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. It is one of our favorite resort says so far. As I mentioned before, it is a deluxe resort, and you really feel it. We watched the Enchantment fireworks from the hallway just down from our room. We were able to find some lookout windows into Artist Point to see Snow White. The view of the water pageant from our room was decent enough for my husband to see most of it. The resort itself is alluring. It is most definitely on the Disney must do list and checked off another resort on our bucket list. We can’t wait to go back!
