Hiya Pals! Did you know that when checking in to a Disney Resort you can skip the lines at the front desk and go straight to your room? We’ll cover this feature including our experience using it in this blog. Come along for an online check in via your phone.
How to Access Online Check In
First, you will need to make sure you have downloaded the MDE app. On the home screen in the app you will find your upcoming reservation. Located just beneath the info will be a Start Check In Now button. Click that button and you’re on your way to your Disney vacation.
If you’re looking for more details on MDE find out more on our blog here.
Checking In
Once you click the Check In Now button you will be prompted to sign into your account. Next you’ll need to decide how to be notified once your room is ready. I usually opt for text alerts because I don’t check my email as often, and I don’t get notifications for emails. Obviously, you should pick what works best for you.
Secondly, you’ll choose the time of your arrival. You may choose anytime during the day, just know that if you try to check in early your room still may not be ready until 4pm.
Third, you will be prompted to add a card and pin number for incidentals, and you may add any room requests along with details about housekeeping services. Depending on your hotel you may have a few different options for room requests. Some options may be near pool or lobby, on top or bottom floor etc. Disney does their best to accommodate these requests, however it’s not a guarantee.
Finally, you’ll click the I Agree button. You can now go straight to your room once it’s ready. It’s so convenient to skip the front desk lines.
Going to Your Room
Of course, once your room is ready, you’ll receive notification via email or text. Furthermore, your room number will be displayed on your MDE account. You can open your room door with your magic band or with your phone. This is a really cool feature! If you need more assistance, you can always see the front desk if necessary.
Our Thoughts
Overall, this process is really simple. I often do this in the car as we’re driving down. You can also do this anytime before check in. For instance, I have a trip coming up in May, and I have already done the online check in process. This eases our hotel process because we usually head straight to the parks and only head back to the hotel once it’s ready. This means we don’t wait in front desk lines, and we don’t waste time at the resort hotel if our room isn’t even ready yet.
We love this feature and use it often. We like to make room requests on occasion and have almost always gotten our requests granted. Do you use online check in? Will you use it soon knowing it’s an easy process? Let us know in the comments!
