Fireworks on the Beach

HiYa Pals!

Sorry it’s been a while since our last blog, but we have been super busy with new and exciting things. Time has seemed to slip by. But time to get back to it! Let’s talk fireworks on the beach!

If you are planning a Disney trip, we may have a wonderful idea for you and your family! Do you have a day during your vacation that you are not going into a park? Are you wanting to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks without the crowds? Would you like to sit and enjoy a dole whip while taking in the beautiful spectacular? Let’s get into it and find out where to go to make this happen!

Where to go

During our trip this past June we decided to check out the fireworks from the beach at the Polynesian Resort! Want to find a little more information on the Polynesian? Click here. Originally, we thought we would give it a try from the Grand Floridian. However, while you can see Magic Kingdom from the Grand, we were having a difficult time finding a good location to sit with a good view. We also were unsure if the music from the fireworks would be played outside where we were.

After deciding we may want to keep looking for a good spot, we decided to walk over to the Polynesian to check out their beaches! The Grand Floridian and Polynesian are connected via sidewalk. It was a quick beautiful walk along the water, taking 5-10 minutes to get over to the Poly. Jackpot!

A side view inside the Polynesian Lobby

Located in the back of the main lobby of the Polynesian Resort, past the Pineapple Lani, past the pool is a large beach directly facing the Magic Kingdom.

If you are walking in the direction of the Poly from the Grand, don’t stop at the first small beach you find. We found a beautiful small beach, with hardly anyone there. If you want to sit and watch the fireworks without the soundtrack, that may be a wonderfully secluded spot to watch. However, if you are desiring the show with the music keep walking to the large beach by the main pool.

The View

Once we arrived and found a spot, we were able to sit and get comfortable. I do believe we arrived about 10-15 minutes prior to the show starting which was perfect.

The view itself, even without the fireworks, is beautiful. You are sitting on a beach with soft sand, hearing the water lap upon the shoreline, and simply enjoying the company of the people you’re with. And the best part is the castle is right across the water in front of you!

Soon to time, an announcement is played across the speakers giving you a warning there are minutes till showtime. In the distance you see Cinderella Castle light up brighter than it has been.

Then the resort lights dim, and the music begins to play! Your heart begins to beat faster with excitement and the fireworks take off! What a show!

The End

Once the show has ended and you have soaked up the view, the world is your oyster.

We took a boat back across the lagoon headed towards Magic Kingdom so we could hop on a resort bus. You can also hop on the monorail to get to your desired location.

However, you are pretty much free to do whatever you want. You can walk to the Grand Floridian and explore the resort. You can go get a yummy dole whip from the Pineapple Lani and enjoy a tasty treat. Try shopping in the main lobby. Or stay on the beach for a while and soak it all in! If you parked in the parking lot for Magic Kingdom and are ready to head out, the Polynesian is located next to the parking lot, so walking there is a breeze!

Thoughts and Helpful Tips

Do we recommend doing this? Absolutely! The view was great, the music was perfect, and you can sit on a beach watching the fireworks!

This is something I have wanted to do for a very long time, and I am thrilled to have had the opportunity.

If you are wanting to escape the large, perhaps overwhelming crowds of being in the park, this is a wonderful alternative. Like we stated earlier, if you have a relaxing day without a park visit, hop over to the Polynesian and enjoy! Looking for something to do after a late dinner? Check it out! It truly was an enjoyable experience.

The show beginning

A few tips to prepare:

Arrive earlier than we did. While we were able to find a spot comfortably, if you want your perfect spot, get there plenty early.

Bring bug spray.

Grab a few towels from the pool area or bring your own to sit on if you want to stay as sand free as possible. We didn’t mind, but if you are looking to stay clean perhaps grab a towel.

This is weather permitting, so if it’s raining you may have to change your plans.

If you are not staying on property, you will only be able to park at the Poly if you have reservations of some sort.

Grab a treat or a drink and enjoy!
