Typically, when someone thinks of Disney, honeymooning isn’t at the top of that list, well at least for most. Surprisingly people honeymoon at Disney way more then you may think. And if you are a Disney fan you get it. Lucky for you readers my cousin Tori and her husband Noah just had a honeymoon at Disney. She has so kindly and graciously answered a few questions for me about their trip. So, sit back and enjoy some of the fun she experienced on her honeymoon. Would you honeymoon at Disney?

Why did you choose Disney for your honeymoon?
When it came to planning our honeymoon, we knew we wanted something fun that we don’t get to experience often. We narrowed it down to three options: a cruise, a trip through Europe, and staying at Disney World.
We chose to go to Walt Disney World because it had been a long time since we’ve stayed on Disney property and had a week-long vacation there. The last time either of us had that opportunity, we were too young to really remember it. Our goal was to let our inner kids out and have fun together making memories at the happiest place on Earth.
Which resort did you stay at?
We chose to stay at the Coronado Springs Resort. This wasn’t our original idea as we were going to stay at All Star Movies Resort to save money. Since it was just the two of us going for our honeymoon, staying at a resort geared to families wasn’t the best option for us. We wanted a resort that had more of an adult feel to it. On top of that we loved the idea of having multiple dining options at the resort in case we left the parks early and wanted to grab dinner there.

Would you recommend staying there for a honeymoon?
I would definitely recommend Coronado as a honeymoon spot. The views over the pond and the water fountain were beautiful.
Food at the resort
Coronado had a coffee shop / bakery available. We would go get coffee and breakfast and sit out by the water, it was so peaceful and serene. It was a great balance to the hustle and bustle of the parks. We also had a date night at the Dahlia Lounge, and it was amazing. Unfortunately, it was raining the night we went so we couldn’t go on the deck to enjoy the view. None the less the décor, drinks, and food was amazing.
I was skeptical getting appetizers from here as I didn’t think it was going to be filling, but they were delicious and quite filling. We ordered the citrus-poached shrimp cocktail and the ham and cheese bocadillo. The shrimp was nice and fresh, and the cocktail sauce was amazing. However, the star of the show was the bocadillo. It was surprisingly sweet in the best way possible. If I could, I would order two right this second to eat for lunch. Another delicious eating spot at the resort was the poolside snack stand Siestas Cantina. Noah got a cheeseburger and said it was amazing. I got the shrimp tacos and when I say these were the best shrimp tacos I’ve ever had, I mean it. If we go to Disney again in the future and try a different resort, I can see myself going to Coronado specifically for these shrimp tacos.
Ambiance of Coronado Springs
The main parts of the resort, the lobby and structures were wonderfully well built and decorated. The theming was everywhere and on point. Nothing was tacky looking and everything had a very elevated and sophisticated air to it. We stayed in a double queen bedroom in the Cabanas. Our building was right between a bus stop and the main pool which was super convenient. I loved being close to the bus stop, so we didn’t have a small hike after walking around in the parks all day.
Only Problem
My only complaint about the resort had to do with difficulties of using the app to open our door. I did not wear my magic band (which is what we had been using the entire time to key in) on our date as it didn’t go with my outfit, so I used the My Disney Experience app to open the door. I tested the mechanism before we left just to make sure it would work.
After our night out, we got back to the room and the app wouldn’t let us into the room. I then tried to reach the front desk through the app and, again, it didn’t work. We tried everything to call the desk as it was raining, and we had just walked back from the main lobby/tower. So, being a gentleman, Noah went by himself back to the lobby to talk to the desk. There, they gave him a card key to swipe into the room. The only explanation given was sometimes that just happens and there’s nothing they can do about it. It was a bit frustrating as it interrupted the end of our date night and Noah had to walk in the rain to get into our room and there was nothing given as a “we’re sorry this happened.”

What were your favorite spots to eat on your honeymoon?
Other than the Dahlia Lounge and Siestas Cantina I have already mentioned, there were several great places to eat. As far as restaurants, we ate at the Nine Dragons at the China pavilion in Epcot, Coral Reef Restaurant in the front of Epcot. Additionally, there was Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in the front of Magic Kingdom, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café in Tomorrow land in Magic Kingdom, Pizzafari in the center of Animal Kingdom, The Backlot Express in Hollywood Studios, Woody’s Lunchbox in Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios, and Roundup Rodeo BBQ also in Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios.
Coffee
For coffee and pastries in the mornings, we either went to Starbucks or Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company (both of which had delicious coffee and breakfast pastries).
Adult Beverages
For alcoholic drinks, we went to Tamu Tamu Refreshments near the Safari in Animal Kingdom and Oga’s Cantina in Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios. I’m going to start with our least favorite then end at our favorites.

The restaurant we would definitely not go to again is The Coral Reef Restaurant in Epcot. The atmosphere was cool, and it was a lot of fun being able to see into the aquarium while we ate. The worst part of a dish from a seafood restaurant should not be the seafood part. Both of our fish (he got salmon, and I got tuna) were overcooked and unappealing. The rest of the dishes were delicious! The rice I had was amazing and I would have a huge bowl of it if I could. But like I said, seafood should not be the worst part of the dish at a seafood restaurant.
Absolut favorites and must haves!
Some of our favorites included the Totchos from Woody’s Lunch Box, the African spiced corn on the cob from Harambe’s Fruit Market in Animal Kingdom, the garlic bread with alfredo sauce and the fettucine alfredo dishes at Tony’s Town Square.
Round Up Rodeo BBQ
But our absolute favorite place to eat and where we would go again in a heartbeat would be Roundup Rodeo BBQ. It was the best barbeque we’ve ever had, and we’ve had our fair share of barbeque. The meat was so flavorful, and it melted in your mouth, there were so many different sides all of which were amazing.
I loved the cucumber salad that came as part of the appetizer, and I was partial to the brisket. The only thing we were sad about is you can’t take to go containers since it was an all you can eat. Which we weren’t aware of when we made the reservation. It was a LOT of food and would be great for big families or groups. It was definitely way too much food for just the two of us and I felt bad wasting such an amazing meal. I wish there was a Roundup Rodeo close to home because I’m sure we would go weekly if we could.
Oga’s Cantina
Another favorite of ours was Oga’s Cantina. The theming of the bar was amazing and super immersive. The drinks were absolutely delicious, and all in all our wait time wasn’t that long. I got the Fuzzy Tauntaun with the foam that makes your mouth tingle and Noah got the Dagobah Slug Slinger. We both loved the drinks and would recommend them to others. My only complaint about Oga’s was that we were placed at the bar and there were no stools/seats there. So, after being on our feet for hours we would have loved being able to sit down and relax a bit. But we loved it and would definitely go again.
Did you do anything to make your honeymoon extra special?
We did not do any spa treatments or anything specific other than just being at Disney and having a date night where we got dressed up. When we checked into the resort, we were given buttons that said Happily Ever After and were given a free lightning lane for each of us. The buttons were cute and we wore them the first day for fun. We quickly realized cast members look for those buttons and will say congratulations to those wearing them. Additionally, we were given glasses of champagne and free desserts throughout the week which was super nice and amazing. It definitely helped make the trip a little extra special and we were cute and cliché each time we got champagne and cheersed and said I love you lol.
Is there anything you would change or do differently? Anything you would recommend?
One thing I would change would be that I did not realize there was an hour time frame to get to the ride you joined the virtual queue to. We joined the Tron virtual queue during Micky’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and the group we were given was in the early 100’s (I don’t remember it exactly) so we knew we had some time to do other things at the party. Once it got to within 20-30 groups, we tried to linger in Tomorrow Land.
Not realizing each group had an hour-ish plus, we wasted so much time in Tomorrow Land trying to be close to Tron for our turn. I tried to do my research on the website and on the My Disney Experience app about the virtual queues beforehand yet was not aware of the time frame for everything. We could have done multiple rides and experiences in the time we sat and waited for our turn on Tron.
A different thing is Noah and I made a point not to stress out and rush around everywhere so we could have a somewhat relaxing vacation while at Disney. Keeping a steady pace helped so much with exhaustion but with that said, we didn’t get as much done as we were hoping.
I would have loved to be there another week or even a few more days to get to everything on our list. We also did not spend a full day in Epcot and instead only went in the evenings here and there throughout our trip, which I regret. I wish we spent a whole day here to truly look at and enjoy everything. All the rides had long wait times as well so the only major rides we went on were Guardians of the Galaxy and Soarin’.
We didn’t get to Test Track, Remy’s, or Frozen which we wanted to ride. Other than that, we loved it all and would do it all again. In the past, with my family, it was all about the thrill rides. This time it was a lot of fun to do some of the more relaxed rides, see the shows and watch parades. We finally saw Fantasmic and it was amazing! I felt like a little kid experiencing the magic of Disney for the first time again. We’re already excited to go again and do what we didn’t get to this trip.

One thing Disney is really good at is trying to make unique things happen for their guests. Whether it is giving a free cupcake, gifting a souvenir or upgrading your room, Disney likes to sprinkle that pixie dust! And what a better way to experience that while on a trip that’s already so special.
It is important to remember not every trip is the same and different things will happen to everyone.
