HiYa Pals!
When it comes to staying on Disney Property there are a plethora of options! You can stay in any of three categories of resorts. Disney offers value, moderate and Deluxe all of which are wonderful options. Check out a review of the value resort POP Century here. However, some people enjoy staying at more than one resort in one stay! I have had the opportunity to do so, and it definitely makes the trip a bit more interesting. So, keep reading and let’s talk about split stays!
What is a split stay?
A split stay is when you and your party decided to stay at two different places while on vacation. This does not only include staying on Disney property.
I know a lot of people will stay at a vacation rental or hotel off site, then later in their stay find their way to a Disney resort.
However, the most common use of a split stay is when you begin at one Disney resort and switch to another at some point in your trip.
If you want to plan a trip or maybe even book a split stay, reach out to Erica for free! She is happy to help and has booked all our wonderful trips!
Is it necessary?
It is absolutely not necessary to do a split stay. Pick a hotel you want and enjoy your vacation!

Pros and Cons to a split stay
Let’s dig a little deeper into why it may or may not be something you would want to consider for a future trip.
Cons
One of the biggest cons to a split stay is the time you have to dedicate to switching. Not only are you probably unpacked and comfortable in your current location but you then have to pack everything back up. And if you have several people that you pack for this can take some time.
Another con to split stays is you may not be able to spend enough time enjoying one or both of those resorts. Disney offers so much at their resorts, and if your time is short, you may not be able to utilize those offerings. Or it may not be that important to you!
Pro tip: make sure you begin at a value and move to moderate or deluxe. Don’t start deluxe and end value. End on a more luxurious note!
Pros
For many Disney fans, being able to stay at every Disney resort is part of a Disney bucket list. Or at least it is for several people I know. If you are not able to travel and stay often this can be a great way to check off some of the resorts from that list.
Being able to stay at two places allows you to have very different experiences. Perhaps you start your stay at the wonderful All-Star Music resort, and you enjoy the large pools and oversized Disney characters placed throughout the resort. Then end your trip with two nights at the Contemporary resort. At the contemporary you have the opportunity to watch the fireworks from your room, or head downstairs to Chef Mickeys for a fun filled breakfast with Mickey and friends. Both are amazing and will give you memories to last a lifetime.
If you do decide to do a split stay Disney is ready to help make your switch easy and seamless. On most switch days you are to be checked out of your resort by 11am. And most of the time you cannot check into your new room at your new resort until 3pm or later. Disney is fully aware that is precious time to most people wanting to make the most out of their vacation.
Disney, knowing people would rather be in the parks or at a reservation, has decided, upon your request, to take your luggage to your new resort for you. This way you can enjoy your time a little more without worrying about what to do with your stuff. It can truly be a wonderful tool.
Would you?
As you can see there are plenty of reasons to try a split stay. It may be for you to try, or it may not. Both of us have had the opportunity to do so and have enjoyed our experiences.
No matter how you choose to spend your stay or where, you are sure to have a good time. Split stays are fun but there is also something to be said about getting back to your resort and going to sleep in the same room! Either way is a good choice!
