January
and beyond
Disney started the year with a bang. If you are staying at a Disney resort, beginning January 1st, 2025, you have free admission to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon on the day of your check in! This only applies to guests checking into a Disney resort on property. Not too bad if you ask me!
Magic Kingdom
Big Thunder Mountain is closing for a full year for a full refurbishment. It is set to open sometime in 2026. If this is an attraction you were interested in, please mark it in your notes that sadly it will be closed.
After Hour Events are set to begin again! These are extra ticketed parties that happen after park close. Here you have several hours in the park with a limited number of park guests, making rides easily rideable, additionally you get popcorn, ice cream and drinks for free!
Coming summertime (no specific day yet) Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, Night Parade will make a debut. I cannot wait to see it! Disney has had several runs with the beloved Main Street Electrical Parade with its last show being in 2016.
There is a Pirates of the Carribean lounge opening in the Adventure land area. There will be new foods, new themed beverages and more all while experiencing a fun atmosphere. No set opening yet.
Tom Sawyer Island and Liberty Square Riverboat will close at some point to allow construction to begin for the new Villans Land, expecting to open in 2029.
Be sure to use your MDE to see what is closed or available while on your trip.
What’s coming to Epcot?
This beautiful park just fully opened after several years of construction and reimagination. Thankfully there is nothing major happening as of now! But there are a few exciting things happening!
January 17th through February 24th is Festival of the Arts! If you love all forms of art this is one for you! Experience fun and unique food dishes, there is a plethora of art for purchase, and you can potentially meet some of the amazing artists. Check out some fun sidewalk art and try your hand at adding to the Epcot mural!
Test Track is set to reopen after a refurbishment. No set open date yet.
February through September After Hour parties will be returning!
And a lounge will be opening in Spaceship Earth.
Animal Kingdom
and New Lands
Disney’s largest park, Animal Kingdom, is going to be undergoing some big changes. Some are sad to see a transformation happen, and some beloved rides go but I feel like this reimagined addition will be worth it!
Probably the largest change coming is the closure of Dino Land. Rides like Triceratops spin and Dinosaur will be closing for good. The carnival games and The Boneyard play area will close making way for the new Tropical Americas Land. When it reopens there will be new rides featuring Encanto and Zootopia!
A Bugs life show in the Tree of Life will be replaced with a new show featuring Zootopia that will be for all to enjoy!
Hollywood Studios
what’s coming?
Disney has announced some big changes and additions for Hollywood Studios too!
After Hours Parties are coming back this January. Set dates for tickets are available on Disney’s website or ask your Disney Travel agent for help in booking! Ask Erica for help and its free!
A new Villans Show is going to be replacing the Lightening McQueen show.
Rockin Roller Coaster is going to be rethemed to the Muppets.
Muppets Land will be closing for good as it will be the location for the new Monsters Inc. Land.
The Little Mermaid A musical adventure will be reopening!
As you can see there are a lot of fun things down the road for Hollywood Studios!
Resorts
If you are planning on staying at a Disney resort, there are a few things you should know before you pick your location.
January through April, the Fantasia Pool at All Star Movies will be closing for renovations. There will still be Donald Duck pool available. So, if swimming is something you are interested in during your trip this may be something to think about and consider.
Another refurbishment is headed to the Beach and Yacht club. Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck pool will be closed for several months. Reopening in June.
The Contemporary resort Bay Lake Tower is currently going under renovation and is set to end in September 2025.
POP Century is going to have room refurbishment beginning in March 2025 and will end sometime in February 2026.
The new DVC tower at the Polynesian Resort has officially opened! This new building brings new restaurants, shopping and beautiful views of the Castle! You will have to check it out when you are there!
We love the Disney resorts so check out some of our blogs on POP, Coronado Springs, and Animal Kingdom Lodge!
What’s Happening in 2025?
As you can see Disney is all the time changing. However, most of the time, these changes are great!
