POP Century, worth the stay?

HiYa Pals!

My mom and I recently stayed at Disney’s value resort POP Century! It was just the two of us. Did we like it? Did it meet our needs? In this blog we will go over these things and more! Keep reading to find out if POP Century is worth the stay?

Disney’s POP Century Resort

POP Grounds

POP Century is a resort dedicated to different decades of music and the pop culture of those times. As you pull into the parking lot of this massive resort you will soon see all kinds of fun decor set to different years from the 1950’s through to the 1990’s. Each designated area of the resort has fun, very large and recognizable items making it feel even more magical in immersive. (Check out our blog on other value resorts here!)

At the center of the resort, you will find the main building, can’t miss it. It has large statues of decades out front, and the buses have their pickup and drop off areas here too. Inside is the beautiful main lobby with ample cast members waiting to help you. They are so kind and helpful! There are all sorts of memorabilia incased along the wall, don’t worry all the nostalgia will come flooding back!

Inside you will also find a seating area with a t.v. on for your littles to watch while you are checking in or are simply talking to someone at the desk. You will also find restrooms, an arcade, the awesome gift shop and the impressive dining hall.

POOLS

There are three pools throughout the grounds. Right outside of the main lobby you can find the main pool and splash pad area. Next to the pool is the only pool side bar, where you can order drinks and food. Mom and I ordered a soft pretzel from the bar, and it was delicious. Additionally, located next to the pools are the laundry rooms.

Between the 80’s and 90’s buildings you will find the computer pool. Located between the three 50’s buildings is the bowling pool. The computer pool and bowling pool have lifeguards but there are no slides and no music playing. But there are free towels to use and plenty of seating. We utilized the computer pool twice and it was lovely.

The Skyliner

One of the greatest benefits to staying at POP is having access to the Skyliner! This mode of transportation gets you to and from both Epcot and Hollywood Studios along with a few different resorts. The Skyliner is quick, efficient, and easy. Each cab can hold up to 10 guests. If you have a single or front and back double stroller, they easily fit as well.

The only downside to the Skyliner is weather. If you have a park day planned at either Epcot or Hollywood Studios and a storm is rolling in with thunder and lightning or heavy winds Disney will not run the Skyliner for safety purposes. However, fear not, bus transportation will be provided for you and other guests to get to your desired location.

We absolutely love the Skyliner. Not only is it fun and fast but you get to see the grounds of Disney in a whole new way. Additionally, it is a fabulous way to meet and talk to new people if you are placed in the same cab. Time it just right, you can see the fireworks from soaring through the night sky! It’s beautiful.

The Room

Alright, so you have received your text and your room is ready, let’s check it out! Inside of a standard room at POP you will find a queen-sized bed. A table with two chairs which pulls down into a second queen sized bed, a dresser with deep drawers and provides plenty of counter space.

Tucked in the front corner next to the window is your coffee and cooler station. It looks like a mini fridge; however, it does not get as cold as a fridge so be careful with storing dairy items if that is something you thought you might be placing inside. Each room is provided a coffee maker, coffee, tea, and items to add such as sugar and creamers. You can also find plastic and paper cups, straws and a few other small items.

A Standard Room with Queen Bed and Queen Murphy Bed.

The bed themselves are quite comfortable. Each bed is dawned with 4 very soft pillows, a light top sheet and a slightly thicker top blanket. If you are someone who enjoys being cuddled up at night you may want to consider bringing a blanket to place on top of you at night. That is something I did; it was nice having a touch of home too. Extra blankets and pillows are provided to each room should you need them.

Each room has its own thermostat. So, if you want it cold, crank that puppy down or turn it up to your comfort. Just don’t do what we did and leave it set to 60 and come in from the pool at night. We were cold for a bit! Goodness, we laughed at that for a while! Needless to say, having the ability to control the temperature in your room is a nice touch.

Bathroom

In the back of the room is your bathroom. Inside you will find the room split in two by a sliding barn door. Walking in first is the sink and storage area. There is a hair dryer, a makeup mirror, and a small hanging area for clothing items that may need it. The mirror is huge and is large enough for 2 maybe even more than that to get ready in the morning.

The second half of the bathroom is the shower and toilet area. This past trip we had a room with a stand-up shower only. There are rooms available with tub\shower combos. The shower heads are lovely, and the water pressure was good. There is a line to pull out for clothing you may need to dry. Overall, the bathrooms are nice and do what they are they for.

Thoughts

POP Century, is it worth the stay? Absolutely! If you are looking for a well themed resort with a decent price tag, I would most certainly check out POP. The staff is kind and friendly. Everyone is willing to help if you have questions or a situation arises.

The food court offers a wide variety of options. They are open early in the morning to late evening. The gift shop has so much to browse through. The grounds of the resort are beautiful and fun to see. If you want to walk across the bridge, you can even go explore the Art of Animation Resort.

The rooms are nice, clean and are a great size for a party of 4.

The only thing I would consider if staying at POP is, it might be worth it to book a preferred room. Meaning you pay a little bit more to be close to the main lobby, food court, main pool, and bus area. Trust me, having a room at the end of the resort at the end of the day can make a walk to the room feel like it’s taking an extra 20 minutes. Or perhaps it’s not that big a deal to you. It just might be nice to have that convenience.

We were so pleased with our stay and so sad when it was over.

Overall, we love POP Century and will stay there again in the future. And we highly recommend it to you too!
