Staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge

Hiya Pals! We’re back from a recent trip to Disney World where we had the pleasure of staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Now, if you know us, you know we always book with our amazing travel agent Erica. Truly, she hooked us up on this reservation! If you’d like to get a travel quote from her for FREE contact her at Travel Design Loft with Erica Kocher. She’s awesome! Now let’s jump into our stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge!

Our Room

First off, we checked in online, so we went straight to the resort to park. Upon exiting our vehicle, I received a text saying our room was ready. Talk about great timing! We LOVED our savannah view room! We checked out as many animals as we could! Even our TV welcomed us to the magic. We stayed in a DVC studio. We had one bed and one pull out couch, so it sleeps up to four. Our balcony overlooks the savannah, and it was amazing! We saw lots of giraffes, wildebeests, and zebra right from our room! The room also boasted a sink, microwave and mini fridge. It was a very comfortable space for our stay. You truly do feel like you’re in Africa.

Uzima Pool

Next, we checked out the pool. Even near the pool you can see wildlife! We checked out the flamingos and other animals during our swim time. My son also loved the slide at the pool. He was nervous at first, but quickly overcame his fear and went down multiple times in a row! The pool was dazzling, and we enjoyed our time spent here.

Restaurants

Animal Kingdom Lodge has lots of great places to eat, and we made sure to enjoy a few during our short stay! We did a mobile order from The Mara and had dinner at Boma. You can find out more about our dinging at Boma in the near future! A little sneak peek: it was so delicious. Also, AKL offers lots of other dining opportunities like Jiko, Victoria Falls Lounge, Sanaa, pool bars and more. You won’t go hungry here!

Transportation

Presently, only busses will take you to and from parks at Animal Kingdom Lodge. You can also choose to drive your own vehicle if you have one with you. Additionally, ride services such as Lyft and Uber are available for an additional fee. We opted not to go to the parks during our short stay so we could fully enjoy the resort experience.

Our Thoughts

Overall, this experience was amazing! We have stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge one other time and loved both times. It is truly amazing to see such exotic animals right from your room. It is worth the upgrade to Savannah view rooms for sure! We love dining and staying here and would do it again in a heartbeat if the opportunity presents itself. Obviously, it’s like staying in Africa with a Disney touch. We loved staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge!
