A Disney Christmas

HiYa Pals!

We hope everyone has been doing well and had a wonderful holiday! The year is almost over, and we can hardly believe it. Time is flying! None the less with the Christmas season coming to an end I wanted to do a small blog on Christmas at Disney . If you love the holidays like we do, a visit during this magical time of year may be just what you need.

With the crazy time that has been the past few years with covid, Disney has not celebrated as it has in years past. However, this year Christmas seems to be in full swing and we are here for it!

The Castle all decorated for Christmas!

If you are unfamiliar with a Disney Christmas let me fill you in a little. Of course, a simple description in a blog is one thing, but experiencing it in person is something to behold. Disney does Christmas on a grand scale. It’s quite amazing. Not only are the parks decorated beautifully but resorts and Disney Springs are decorated too!

When to Celebrate

Disney jumps into their Christmas celebration the 1st of November. The night of Halloween, after all the guests have left the park, Disney cast members and workers jump into high holiday gear. By park open on the 1st of November, as guests walk into the parks, they are met with Christmas cheer.

What to look for

In Magic Kingdom there are tall Christmas trees decorated with beautiful lights and ornaments everywhere. Look up and you will find garland and wreaths and wonderful Christmas music to put you in the holiday mood. Some of the rides in Magic Kingdom are given a special holiday layover. The Jungle Cruse in Adventure land is transformed into the Jingle Cruse. Take a walk over to Tomorrowland and Tomorrowland Speedway is decked out with Christmas decorations. It’s beautiful to ride at night.

In addition to the decorations, Disney has a plethora of Christmas treats they offer during this time of year. There is a long list of new things to try, and they all look delicious.

For the first time since covid Disney has brought back the Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party! I have had the pleasure of going to one of these events in 2018 with a few family members, and it was wonderful! At Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party you get to experience a lower crowd, free cookies, hot chocolate, apple cider and other wonderful treats. You can watch the special fireworks show, and even enjoy a delightful Christmas parade. Obviously, I would go again in a heartbeat. One of my favorite memories from that particular trip, we all grabbed a cookie and hot chocolate and rode the people mover and enjoyed the fireworks. It was pure magic. I’ll never forget that moment. If you are looking for a little bit of extra Disney fun, Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party is something to consider.

As a matter of fact, check out our blog on extra ticketed events that Disney offers here!

Where to find decor

Hollywood Studios

Magic Kingdom isn’t the only park in the holiday spirit, at Hollywood Studios you can find old time decorations everywhere. Shiney garland and giant Santas are hung throughout the park. Girdy the dinosaur wears a Santa hat for the season while giant ornaments float in the pond.

Woody is ready for the Holidays

Toy Story land is just as magical with lights and decorations. Make sure to stop by Woody’s lunch box to grab a delicious breakfast bowl! In all honesty, no matter what direction you head in Hollywood studios you will not be disappointed. Some say it’s the best park to visit during Christmas just for the decor! Thats up for you to decide! Make sure to watch the holiday show which they project onto the Tower of Terror at night!

Epcot

Over at Epcot Christmas decor is subtle and beautiful. Epcot has the most amazing way of celebrating Christmas in World Showcase; in all of the country pavilions you can find those specific countries way of celebrating the holiday. As a matter of fact you may find different versions of food, stories, and even different Santas. It is so special to learn these wonderful things. And of course the food, you’re in Epcot try the food. Just like in Hollywood Studios, make sure to watch the light show on Spaceship Earth at night!

Animal Kingdom

In addition, an Animal Kingdom Christmas is beautiful. The wreaths are natural and earthy, and makes you feel at home. In fact, Christmas music from around the world is lightly played throughout. Look to the boats on the river to see some familiar faces floating by and make sure to wave! Multiple characters can be seen greeting guests by way of boat. Also, be sure to keep an eye open for the Merry Menagerie. You will be delighted to find some wonderful winter creatures greeting guests as they walk past. Another great option is to be sure to catch the projection show on the tree of life at night!

Don’t forget Disney Springs

If you are looking for something free to do that is Christmas themed, head to Disney Springs. Located throughout the Disney Springs area are wondefully decorated Christmas trees. Encompased in a tree are all different Disney movies or icons. Indeed, they are beautiful to look at and can bring back some serious nostalgia. Enjoy a dinner around springs, do some shopping and enjoy a stroll looking at all of the decor!

With all of that said, we hope you are able to experience a Disney Christmas at least once in your life! There truly is something so magical about it. No matter what park you go to, what restaurant you eat at, or what resort you stay, you will find something wonderful to enjoy!
