Hi Friends!
Have you ever had a dream about the most delicious cookies? Have you ever walked into a bakery and your mouth just starts salivating from the divine aroma of baked sweets? Well, I think Disney has found a gem with this place, and the constant line outside is proof! We had A Visit to Gideons Bakehouse, we made it in!
Next time we go make sure to check out our social media pages so you can keep up with our visits! We will often post live in reels and stories when we are there!
Gideons History
Gideons Bakehouse is, believe it or not, a fairly young bakery. It has roots that begin in 2016 in the East End Market, Central Florida’s original food hall. Steve Lewis is the brain behind creating Gideons Bakehouse. One day Steve purchased an old book. He later found it had the writings of a young boy dreaming of becoming a baker. And that young boys name was Gideon. Steve then decided it was only appropriate to name the bakery after him!
After the original bakery opened it quickly gained popularity and has since been named Orlandos favorite cookie, even taking the title of favorite cookie all around the globe. Gideons is published in all kinds of magazines such as the New York Times and Bon Appetite Magazine, just to name a few. Disney recognized the unique bakery and quickly partnered with them, and now a second location is open in Disney Springs.
The Bakehouse
In Disney Springs you can find Gideons resting on a corner lot right across from Wine Bar George and Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar. The building is large and layered in brick with a large Gideons sign painted across the front. Also included is a rustic black sign which hangs from the top corner, be sure to keep an eye open for it.
Inside you will find this bakery uniquely decorated, some might even say a bit scary, but its theme is part of what makes it so special. Gideons is covered from top to bottom in quirky artwork including pieces from the Victorian age. You will also find rows and rows of antique looking books! Its dark ambiance will lure you in along with the divine smell of what’s inside. You will find yourself staring at the distinctive art while winding your way through the line. I found it so festinating and almost entrancing. The line moves relatively fast so make sure to think of what you want to order.
What to Order
Obviously, you are entering a bakery, but this bakery is not your typical small-town spot. At Gideons you will find a case of 6 types of cookies. They offer regularly chocolate chip, triple chocolate chip, pistachio toffee chocolate chip, peanut butter crunch, cookies and cream, and white chocolate caramel macadamia nut cookies. Every month Gideons offers a limited time offered cookie of the month, which they pair with a new cold brew.
If you want to see their other cookie offerings, I suggest going to Gideons website! There you will find a plethora of mouthwatering cookies!
Not only does Gideons offer their famous cookies, but they also make some pretty amazing cakes as well. Like the cookies they offer, the cakes change often too. While we were there, they had a peanut butter and jelly cake, which I heard is actually pretty amazing. They had a triple chocolate cake, and a special cake for pride month. Both of which looked amazingly mouthwatering.
In addition to all those diecious treats, Gideons has become known for their cold brews. They offer a couple flavors and rotate a new one every month to pair with their monthly cookie! I had hoped to try the peanut butter cold brew, but I was slightly overwhelmed with the choices, so I ordered cookies. However next time I am able to get there that peanut butter cold brew is top of my list!
What We Ordered
Since this was my first visit to Gideons I decided to keep it classic. I ordered the original chocolate chip cookie and the triple chocolate chip. Holy cannoli’s batman, these cookies are massive. Each cookie comes weighing in at a whopping half a pound, and it’s a half a pound of thick yumminess! I was only able to take a few bites of each cookie before needing to put them away to save for later. When I say they are thick I mean they are Thick with a capital T! I’d say one cookie is doable for one person if you are hungry, but you can most definitely share a cookie between two people.
Each cookie is covered in gooey chocolate chips which adds to the richness. I almost wish I had purchased one not covered in chocolate just to have the flavor variety, but I am a chocolate kind of girl. Next time for sure I will order the peanut butter crunch.
Krysta ordered the original chocolate chip cookie and a slice of cake that looked so cool! She said it was really good.
Alongside baked goods you can also find Gideons merchandise inside. They have candles, t-shirts, and more for your purchase.
If you find yourself in Disney Springs looking for a snack or dessert that has been recognized globally then make sure to stop at Gideons Bakehouse! The Bakery itself is worth a walk through and the cookies are rich and delicious!
If you are person who isn’t really into sweets, then Gideons is probably not the place for you. However, I do recommend coming to Gideons at least once. I think it is so worth a try. Its unique, mouthwatering, and truly something special!
