Hiya Pals!
We just had a great trip to Disney World in May and wanted to give you an honest Steakhouse 71 review. We tried this restaurant out for the first time on this last trip. Additionally, it was an extra special trip because my husband and I were celebrating ten years of marriage. We picked the perfect restaurant to dine at because the meal was mouthwatering!
Our meal
First, we had a drink and an appetizer. We decided to try the Lump Crab Cakes as recommended to us by our server. They were better than I expected! Often crab cakes in a restaurant are mostly filler, and honestly that wasn’t the case here. Perfectly seasoned and fried to perfection they were slightly sweet and crispy just the way I like it! Mike decided to get a cocktail, a Raspberry Gin Sour. He said it was a perfect combination of sweet and sour. I tried a small sip and while it was strong, I enjoyed the raspberry flavoring.
Main Courses
Next, we ordered our main courses. I decided on the tenderloin medallions, while my husband tried the New York strip steak. Each steak comes with your choice of a side and a choice of sauce. There are seven sauces to choose from, and there is an option to try all seven sauces with a flight (at an additional cost). In the end we both picked the same side, but each selected a different sauce. I decided on the chimichurri sauce, while he tried the wild mushroom. Both were amazing!
The steaks were tender and juicy, and the sauce just added an extra layer of deliciousness. The only negative thing I would say here is one of my medallions was undercooked to my liking. I ordered my steak medium, and one was perfectly cooked, but the other was definitely more on the rare side. My husband ordered his steak rare, and it was cooked to perfection.
Dessert
Finally, we decided to try dessert. They are famous for their chocolate cake, and it did not disappoint! It was the tallest, and most delicious cake I’ve had on property, or ever! The dessert was served with raspberries, which elevated it to another level. I have been craving it since my last bite.
Atmosphere & extras
The atmosphere of the restaurant was small and quiet, very intimate and relaxing. It was easy to talk to one another, as there wasn’t any background music or loud talking or TVs to have to shout over. The lounge area is separate from the dining area by a glass wall. There are several framed pictures of Walt on the walls and lots of Disney artwork abound.
The table setting was simple and classic, mostly black and white. The menus are online using a QR code. A small golden candle in the center of the table served as a centerpiece.
Our thoughts
Overall, I would eat here again (hopefully soon) and would recommend it to families that are celebrating something special. It was an experience to remember, and a little classier than we normally eat in Disney. There were lots of families dining so don’t be afraid to take the whole family. Hopefully this review of Steakhouse 71 has persuaded you to give it a try!
