Hiya Pals!
We’re finishing out the top 5 rides series by jumping into Animal Kingdom! Here you’ll find a few thrill rides, mixed with a handful of more kid friendly rides.
If you’re looking for a ton of rides, this particular park may not be the place for you. We love animal kingdom despite it not being a ride heavy park. In fact, we’ve combined our lists and are only reviewing 5 rides here simply because there aren’t many to pick from. As with the other ‘Top 5’ posts we’ll be talking about our top 5 favorites from Animal Kingdom and why we like them.
#5 Na’vi River Journey
Wind your way through the beautiful que on the planet mora and board your boat taking you on a journey to visit the Na’vi people. River Journey is amazingly immersive and equally tranquil. We love to relax and take in all the sights and sounds in Pandora!
One of the many reasons I love this ride is because it’s like you are placed in the middle of the movie. River Journey is something to behold. Take it all in from the neon lights, the creatures lurking around corners and floating in air. See frog like animals leaping on leaves and watch the shaman move and sing a beautiful song. If you are a fan of the movie, come and check it out!
#4 Mount Everest
Looking for a thrill ride? What’s more thrilling than a ride up the mountain to find the Yeti…nothing! That’s exactly what you’ll do on this ride! Everest is fun during the day, and even more thrilling at night!
The lines can get long. You might want to choose a LightningLane pass on this ride if you choose to go that route. There is a height requirement of 44 inches so keep that in mind for younger riders. You’ll love the drops and turns of this fast-paced coaster and if you catch sight of the yeti, you might end up going backwards too! This ride is sure to leave you smiling!
#3 Kali River Rapids
Ride along on this river raft as you see what happens to lands that are extensively logged. Kali River Rapids has a height requirement of 38 inches, and you will get wet! There are lockers you can store your things in if you’re worried about water damage. These rafts are round so you have the chance of going forward, backward, or sideways, but that’s all part of the fun!
We love to cool down from the Florida heat on this ride. Wait times get long in the mid-morning to afternoon. I suggest trying to ride early, or later in the afternoon if you want to avoid a longer line!
#2 Flight of Passage
Returning to Pandora, you’ll find the ever-popular ride Flight of Passage! This ride takes you on the back of a banshee as you soar through the trees and mountains of Mora. You’ll don 3-D glasses and experience a world with a view like no other! The visual effects are astounding. You’ll even feel the banshee breathing beneath you!
There is nothing quite like Flight of Passage. With the wind in your hair, smells to transport you, and sights to take in, you will love this. My first ride on passage I teared up when it was over, it is so beautiful. My 8-year-old nephew rode for the first time in January, and it wound up being his favorite ride of the trip. It can be a little intense for little ones, none the less it is worth the wait.
#1 Kilimanjaro Safari
Want to experience what Animal Kingdom is all about? This ride is a MUST DO! We ride this several times each trip and every Safari trip is different! If you get lucky, you’ll hear the lion’s roar!
Aboard the rugged vehicles you’ll have a Safari guide who will point out several different animals along the way! This is a great ride for all ages, especially kids who are interested in animals and conservation! We learn something new on almost every trip!
Animals are all around the vehicles, and often quite close so you can get a good look at them! We absolutely love this ride and suggest everyone ride it at some point! Early morning and late afternoon are when most animals are active. No matter what time you ride you’ll see a bunch of animals!
Animal Kingdom may not have an abundance of rides, however there are fun things to do. What it does have are truly unique experiences!
