Welcome to our next top 5 list! We are going to explore Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Formerly known as MGM, this park has undergone some major changes within the past decade or so. Most recently added is Galaxy’s Edge, an immersive land dedicated to Star Wars. In addition, make sure to explore Toy Story Land. Here you shrink down to toy level and enjoy toy story themed rides!
At Hollywood Studios you will find the ride Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. There is so much to explore and do at Hollywood Studios so let’s take a look at some of our favorites. Here are our Top 5 at Hollywood Studios!
#5 Becky: Rise of the Resistance
If you love Star Wars or are just a simple fan, I have to recommend this ride. I’m not sure how you can become more emersed on a ride then on Rise of the Resistance. Now if you’re like me, you probably don’t know much about the franchise or movies, or if you do, either way this ride is worth the wait.
The que for Rise is just as incredible as the ride. Walking through rock tunnels, hearing different machines activate, and checking out different props, you are sure to get excited for the ride. There is a height requirement for Rise so be sure your little ones can tag along.
#5 Krysta: Alien Swirling Saucers
Beware of the claw in this iconic Toy Story Ride! You’ll hop aboard in groups of 2-3 and ride along with a crazy alien driver. The line for this ride is not usually very long and it’s a fun quick ride. If you have bad motion sickness (like me) don’t worry the aliens travel in a figure 8 pattern, that makes it a lot easier! You’ll be eternally dizzy-in a good way!
#4 Becky: For the First Time in Forever: Frozen Singalong
Need a break from the heat? Need to cool off for a bit? Come in and check out this adorable, funny, entertaining show. Relax in your seat, enjoy the air conditioning, and watch the story of Anna and Elsa told like never before. The kids will love all of the classics to sing to, along with seeing their favorite Frozen characters. Don’t worry adults, this show is hilarious and will make you laugh. Your little ones will love the surprise at the end of the show, it may rhyme with toe!
#4 Krysta: Rockin Roller Coaster
Nearly everyone enjoys this fast-paced roller coaster! With a ride restriction in place riders must be 48” or taller to ride along with Aerosmith on their way to the concert! The ride takes place in near complete darkness and does go upside down. Without a doubt this coaster is a must do for the thrill seekers in your party! It’s always a fun time.
#3 Becky: Star Tours
Star Tours is not located in Galaxy’s Edge. However, you will find it located right outside of the land. This attraction was the first Star Wars themed ride inside of Hollywood Studios.
While riding Star Tours, you will find yourself seated on a ship with C3po as your guide. You will experience a turbulent flight, fight other ships and escape your enemy. In addition, Star Tours is a 3D attraction, make sure you are able to enjoy without being affected by motion sickness.
#3 Krysta: Lightning Mcqueen Racing Academy
While technically not a ride, this show is another must do for our family. Seated in a theater you’ll meet Lightning and Mater and see more friends as you learn what it takes to become a great racer. Beware as someone tries to hack into the system. Racing Academy is great because you get to sit for a while and it’s in the air condoning! It’s a great place to recharge and have some fun!
#2 Becky: Slinky Dog Dash
If you want a fun, family friendly, thrill ride this one is for you! Slinky Dog will race through Andys backyard all while making you laugh and smile! Seated in rows of two, you smoothly glide up hills, whip around corners and even have 2 launches.
Slinky is very friendly for little ones. This is not a slow coaster, so be sure to talk it over with your littles. I know they will be thrilled to have this as a first big kid ride! You are sure to have a blast on this ride, be sure to listen for your favorite toy story song at the end!
#2 Krysta: Toy Story Mania
Join Woody and his Toy Story pals as you ride through carnival-like games to score points! You move through several different rooms, wearing 3-D glasses shooting things and keeping score. At the end of the ride, you’ll see your score displayed and see how you rank in your vehicle and the daily high score. The queue is really fun to look at and you can play fun games in the Play Disney App. We love to see who wins each round, and if I can beat my husband, which has only happened once.
#1 Becky: Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Did you know Runaway Railway is the only ride dedicated to Mickey and Minnie on Disney Property? Located in the front center of the park, this new attraction replaced “The Great Movie Ride.” Any time a new ride replaces an old favorite, there are different opinions. However, in my opinion the change was worth it!
Have you ever wanted to enter into a cartoon? Look no further because here is your chance. Hop on a train with conductor Goofy. Now what could go wrong, well with the Goof as the driver, just about everything does. But have no worries, all is well in the end. Runaway Railway is family friendly; all ages can ride. Nothing can stop us now!
#1 Krysta: Tower of Terror
My favorite thrill ride of all time is Tower of Terror! You’ll climb into a service elevator and experience the Twilight Zone. You’ll rise and fall through flights of the hotel. Before plummeting back to ground level, keep your eyes open so you see the park as the elevator doors open! The queue is spooky and dark. Tower of Terror draws large crowds and often has a long wait, nonetheless it’s worth it! Riders must be 40” or taller. I suggest trying to get a Lightning Lane pass for this ride if it’s a must do on your list!
Hollywood Studios is a fun and exciting place to visit. As you walk around and take in the atmosphere, you feel as though you are brought to old Hollywood. Not only are the rides fantastic but the street entertainment is wonderful too! Old time characters stroll around, talk to you, and even put on skits! When you see them out and about, make sure to stop for a few minutes and enjoy the show.
Now we named a few of our favorites, however there is more to enjoy! Come to Hollywood Studios and find your favorites!
If you want to know what we recommend at Magic Kingdom, make sure to read the blog on our top 5! It was a challenge trying to decide as there are so many to choose from.
